Colorado Dude Ranch

Todays blog post is featuring Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch, nestled in the breathtaking foothills of Colorado. Karen, the Dude Ranch Programs Coordinator, put a grin on my face every time I clicked open her email. Her joyful “Howdy Joy” just made me smile and want to drop everything and roll up to the front door and spend the week right that very minute.

Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch is a slice of western paradise. As soon as you step foot on this picturesque ranch, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back to the Wild West, where the air is crisp, and the adventures are as big as the mountains themselves.

Q:  Karen, tell me a little about how the Ranch was started?

A: The ranch was purchased in 1946, by the Jessup family. They became a dude ranch that year, and started hand raising American Quarter Horses in the 60’s. Cattle were also added to the program shortly after. The ranch has continued to raise their own horses, boasting a herd of 70.

Q: What is your favorite part about the Ranch and what are some popular activities?

A: The privately owned land and the horses. Horseback riding is the most popular activity, but we also provide bass fishing, shooting, archery, and rock climbing!
